Plasma and oxy-fuel CNC cutting table using controlled XYZ motion

Radonix interface / XYZ motion / no THC

XYZ CNC Controller for Plasma and Oxy-Fuel Cutting

Three-axis control for machines with XY contour motion and a pulse/direction Z lift. The interface manages programmed pierce, cut and retract positions, but it does not provide closed-loop arc-voltage Torch Height Control.

01 / Interface identity

Controlled XYZ positioning without an automatic THC loop.

The XYZ Cutter interface is for a gantry with X and Y cutting motion plus a stepper- or servo-driven Z lift that accepts pulse/direction commands.

01

Programmed height positions

Configure pierce, cutting and retract positions through controlled Z motion and the engineered machine sequence.

02

Plasma or oxy-fuel process I/O

Map torch or gas commands, purge, timing, Arc OK where available, alarms and machine-specific permissives.

03

Operator-controlled adjustment

Jog or trim the Z position through the interface without representing that operation as automatic arc-voltage control.

02 / Capability boundary

XYZ positioning and Torch Height Control are separate capabilities.

The earlier page mixed both descriptions. This corrected version keeps live arc-voltage monitoring and automatic height correction exclusively with the dedicated XYZ Plasma + THC interface.

Included in XYZ Cutter

  • Interpolated XYZ motion
  • Pulse/direction Z positioning
  • Programmed pierce, cut and retract positions
  • Plasma or oxy-fuel process I/O mapping
  • Manual/operator Z adjustment

Not included in XYZ Cutter

  • Closed-loop arc-voltage feedback
  • Automatic torch-height correction
  • THC target voltage, gain or deadband control
  • THC anti-dive or hold behavior

03 / Operator workflow

Prepare, position, verify and cut.

01

Prepare the job

Load the supported geometry and verify kerf, leads, cut order and machine coordinates.

02

Set Z positions

Define the programmed pierce, cut and retract positions for the actual lift and process.

03

Dry-run

Check motion, limits, clearances, process timing and safety states without activating the cutting process.

04

Cut and monitor

Run while monitoring XYZ position, feed, process I/O and alarms. Height is not corrected from live arc voltage.

04 / Hardware compatibility

Select hardware from the complete machine record.

The existing Radonix record identifies PC Smart 3AS, PC Smart 4A and PC-Pro LAN 4A as candidate platforms. Final suitability depends on the required axes, pulse/direction drives, I/O, process equipment and safety architecture.

THC upgradeRequires the separate XYZ Plasma + THC interface plus compatible arc-voltage and Z hardware.

05 / Resources

Documentation and interface files.

Use the current Radonix documentation to review the interface record. Confirm compatibility before installing a registry/interface package on a production machine.

Does XYZ Cutter include Torch Height Control?

No. It controls XYZ motion and pulse/direction Z positioning without closed-loop arc-voltage THC.

Can it be used for plasma and oxy-fuel?

The interface is positioned for plasma and oxy-fuel cutting machines when their motion, process I/O and safety architecture are compatible.

Where is automatic THC supported?

Use the separate XYZ Plasma + Torch Height Controller interface for the documented Radonix arc-voltage height-control implementation.
