01

Interface profile

Introduction

With CAM-Pro and compatible Radonix controller hardware, the XY CNC controller interface provides two-axis hot-wire motion and process control for EPS and XPS foam-cutting machines.

Who uses it
Packaging, architectural mouldings, letters/signs, props & set design.
Works with
Two-axis XY hot-wire tables. Machines with a rotating wire head use the separate XYC Hot-Wire interface.
Supported files
DXF and standard G-code (e.g., ArtCAM / PowerMill posts)
Important
This XY interface controls X and Y only. Use XYC Hot-Wire when automatic rotating-head calculation is required.

Machine architecture

Machine & Kinematics

2-Axis CNC Controller for Hot-Wire Foam Cutting machine architecture

Machine & Kinematics

  • XY gantry over foam block/sheet; adjustable envelope and homing.

  • This XY interface controls two independently interpolated axes and does not calculate a rotating C-axis.
  • Wire tensioning, quick-change fixtures; origin presets for remnant reuse.

Control & I/O

  • High-rate step/dir motion with smooth velocity on curves.
  • Outputs for wire power (SSR/PWM), pre-heat, cool-down fan, beacons/alarms.
  • Inputs for wire break/open-circuit, guards, E-stop; optional fume extraction or fixture sensors.
  • Wire-power, cooling and safety I/O operate independently from the two-axis motion path.

Interface capabilities

Key Features of Radonix CNC Software

Software & Workflow

  • DXF-first workflow: load a DXF and cut—no custom post required.

  • Two-axis path planning applies look-ahead to maintain stable motion through curves and direction changes.
  • Path rules control lead-in/out moves, corner behaviour and clearances around pins or clamps.
  • Thermal kerf/offset by material and wire gauge; speed ⇄ heat sync keeps the melt zone consistent.

  • Corner slow-down, tangent exits, optional tabs/bridges for part retention.

  • Reports: cycle time, cut length, breaks/pauses; operator notes saved with the job.

Key Capabilities (at a glance)

  • DXF direct: no custom G-code post needed for the two-axis XY workflow
  • Smooth two-axis XY contour motion computed from the selected geometry
  • Thermal kerf/offset, pre-heat dwell, auto cool-down, wire-break detect

  • Speed–heat coupling, corner slow-down, tabs/bridges

  • Simulation / demo run (wire off), single-block step

  • Soft limits, interlocks, full E-stop chain

  • Job logs and quick recall

01

Direct DXF Execution

Seamlessly load and execute DXF files without the need for G-code conversion — streamlining your workflow and reducing setup time.

02

Smart Component & Path Management

Select specific parts from complex drawings and customize cutting order with intuitive control over toolpath sequencing.

03

Interactive On-Screen Editing

Scale, rotate, and mirror parts directly within the interface — with live toolpath previews to ensure precision.

04

Flexible Part Placement

Manually drag and drop parts onto your material sheet to accommodate irregular shapes, pre-cut stock, or remnant reuse.

05

Advanced Pause Controls

Set up to three independent pause points — before the cut, during the cut, and after the cut — for manual checks or operational adjustments.

06

Reverse Cutting Mode

Execute toolpaths in reverse to minimize material warping or adjust final exit points based on design needs.

07

Simulation / Demo Run Mode

Perform a complete dry-run motion test with wire power disabled to verify the cutting path and machine travel.

08

Special Program For Designing

Software for designing ceiling panels (RadPS).
